I was an aircrewman in an EC-121K flying between Midway Island and Adak, Alaska in 1960 and 1961. Gooney birds everywhere with nests about every 6 feet. The young gooney birds learned to fly along the beaches often landing in the lagoon waters. The sharks seemed to know the season when the young gooney birds were learning to fly as they patrolled the lagoon waiting for a meal to land in the water.
I never knew this about my dad til he past last week but he lived there from 61-63. In a statement it said, there was a plane crash and my father was assigned to guard the wreckage til the investigation was over.
